If you have Lightroom CC 2021, there’s a lot new to explore and understand. The big change for this new version is what’s known as Lightroom’s Shared Collections. These are basically personal groupings of photos organized by a set of criteria you set up. They are not like folders you’d find in the OS, and you can’t make them directly. Lightroom CC 2021 automatically puts photos in collections based on your current settings. However, you still have control over what you get into it. Many of the collections are automated, but you can edit them and change which photos are in them (at least for now).

The old concepts of workspaces won’t work here, so expect to do each adjustment you want in one workspace. Like Lightroom Classic before it, you need to open and edit the original photo or moving image, and then edit the effects on it. And, because the history for every image is lost, you can’t add images and develop them separately.

In the Adjustments section, you will find the individual adjustments you see in the boxes throughout the Adjustment > Adjustment panel in Lightroom Classic. Lightroom’s Adjustments panel will likely end up looking a lot like the Classic one, because they are just skinned versions of the same screens.
