I have been using Acronis disk director for a long time now. I wanted to install Acronis disk director on my system. I first tried installing it on Windows, the start-up screen was in English. I clicked on a message that said the Windows installer was not installed, so I clicked on OK in order to load Acronis from the web for the first time. The start-up screen said the Windows installer was not installed. I then clicked on the path shown and it showed Acronis disk director running. I then clicked on the Windows installer and I installed the software. I have been using Acronis since the very beginning, and I am continuing to use it. I am wondering why did I have to learn about the Acronis disk director from the Internet. I was unable to solve this problem at all. My English is still poor. I have encountered a problem. I used the Acronis disk director software to restore my HP 1TB internal drive, and I could not write directly to it because the space that I requested was not sufficient. How can I solve this problem?

I have a PC with 5 internal hard drives. Only one, which was working normally, is recognized by the new version of Acronis disk director. I have installed Acronis disk director in this PC for a long time. I did not expect the problems caused by this software.

Well as have read the same article you posted about the problem with Disk Director I know you have been experiencing it for some time now. You have taken reasonable steps to protect your data and backups against a loss of the hard disk drive.

I have been using Acronis Disk Director 11, and Acronis Disk Director 13, to back up the content of my hard drives, including my Windows OS, to a backup. I have found that I can not use Windows Explorer to backup a system disk. The backup disk will have an empty files folder. Can I make a backup using Acronis Disk Director Full Version of an entire disk, using a hard disk to backup an entire disk?

I downloaded the upgrade to DD12, created a bootable USB Flash drive with Acronis media restore USB installer. Installed everything OK (including imaging the HDD as I had just done a full backup of all systems to my back-up HD). Both SSD and HDD disk images were fine and disk imaging completed OK. Then I ran Acronis’ s own disk full check program (which from memory recommends you reboot before using) and that failed. It gave a few errors and was unable to complete the check of the empty disk partition. So I shut the PC down and ran the test again – this time it completed OK. The drive it had found a few bad clusters on a large HD, but why it recommended rebooting was beyond me. I did so, shut the PC down again, run the test and it completed OK but the scan of the empty disk found a few bad clusters again (just like the previous one). So I did as I had done before, rebooted and the test completed OK. Then I copied the new drive image (correcting the bad clusters as I went along). I then turned the PC back on, started DD12 and then updated the disk drive image, then ran the “check & clean” which was done OK (or so I thought!) so was pretty confident I was back to clean disks. Anyway, I started the disk imaging and it found 8 bad clusters and stopped! Not good! I started the imaging again and was just starting the cloning process and again it stopped/cored. This time after booting up, I ran the disk check again and it found the 8 bad clusters. I made a note of the exact location of each file, so that I could do the repair of the files without damaging anything else (although I was 99.999% sure I knew what I was doing!). I then shut the PC down and booted into Windows 7 to save the location of the eight bad clusters and then rebooted in Acronis Disk Director and started the restoration. I copied the two files to the New HDD (which I thought would do the job) then sat and watched. The first time it failed with the message I had expected (Critical Error – File system check failed), the second time it ran OK (1 h 51 m 23 s) and had copied all but the 2 files. (The 2 files were the bad cluster files that I had noted previously, so I assumed the copying had failed and stopped the imaing there. I ran the three test disk checks again and this time it completed OK (see first test in the image below). I shut down the PC and then booted up the original (failed) HDD to find all the files had gone. No file restore info or any warning aboutthe “lost” files (see second test in the image below). I then took the New HDD and clone it over the Failed HDD (as a new HDD) and the final test in the image below came up with zero file errors.

In addition to the above, the software now allows you to specify an alternative name, if necessary, for partitions; create a primary partition and use it as a single volume; create four primary partitions across four different disks; change the partition table; duplicate and switch disks; create volumes from unused space across multiple disks; and more. That’s a long time coming and it’s a big improvement. Next on the list is an upgrade in the company’s support services; there are a lot of general and version-specific issues that are now covered.

Some of the other updates are less straightforward. In particular, the new version of the software allows you to create a bootable CD/DVD using either Windows PE or Linux. Disk Director also ships with Acronis Backup Repository Manager (version 3.0) which has been upgraded. This allows you to connect, share and manage remote volumes as well as recover old data and data in inaccessible directories.

This is probably the best new feature, but it’s one that remains limited to disk imaging and backup. What’s more, it’s something of a distraction from the main focus of the software – namely partitioning.
